The DeKalb ISD Board of Trustees is expected to address some administrative staff changes during its special called meeting Monday night.

Those changes are expected to be a move of Middle School Principal Clayton Little to the same position at DeKalb High, and Athletic Director Eddy May taking over the role of Middle School Principal.

The changes come on the heels of the announced retirement of current High School Principal Neilan Hensley. That retirement was announced at the February Board meeting.

In a statement issued to DISD staff and released to the Tribune this morning, Superintendent Dr. John Booth said, “We have made decisions about who we are going to recommend to the board for HS Principal - Clayton Little. After going through resumes and interviews it was extremely clear to us that he is the best fit to fill our mission for the HS and the District. Because of that move and because we have great people on staff who know what we are trying to accomplish we are going to recommend to the board a lateral move and announce Eddy May as our MS Principal. Coach May is excited for this opportunity as am I. I believe these moves will help us continue to grow as the premier school district in NE Texas.”

The Tribune spoke with Coach May after the announcement and the longtime football coach and athletic director said that he was excited about the move and was looking forward to the new position, stating that it was something that he had worked toward for a long time.

May said, “This is a great school district and I look forward to the new role. I will miss coaching, but I will still be out there every Friday night supporting our DeKalb Bears.”

The district is expected to go through the process of filling the Athletic Director spot after the moves are officially approved by the Board Monday night.
