New Boston resident Jamie Barron was arrested this morning by Miller County law enforcement officials at his job in Texarkana, Arkansas for Violation of the Arkansas Hot Checks Law.

Bowie County Fire Marshall Scotty Taylor told the Tribune this afternoon that once Barron answers to his Miller County charges, he will be extradited to Bowie County and then he will have to have a bond set for felony arson.  A warrant was signed last week by Bowie County Justice of the Peace Curtis Cole on the felony arson charge. The felony arson charge is in relation to a house fire at a residence in the 5100 Block of SH 98 near New Boston, that occurred on the evening of July 4, 2018.

Taylor states that eye witness testimony placed Barron at the home where the arson occurred, leading to his request for a warrant.

According to local officials, Barron will also have felony charges going back to the Bowie County District Attorney’s office that he was serving deferred adjudication for in relation to previous charges of DWI and prescription fraud.
