JAMES PATRICK DRENNAN

On July 20, 2017, James “Jimmy” Drennan left this Earthly world to meet our Heavenly Father.  He passed away at home surrounded by his loving wife and family after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was an amazing husband, father, son, brother and friend to all. Many friends and family covered him in love throughout his illness.

FRANK A. BOUTWELL

Frank A. Boutwell of New Boston, Texas died Sunday, July 16, 2017 in Texarkana, Texas. Frank was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 27, 1922. He was reared, mostly, in Dallas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Methodist University in Social Sciences and a Master’s Degree from Garrett Seminary, Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. 

Reverend Boutwell married Glennis Forrester from New Boston, Texas who was a psychiatric nurse then serving at the VA hospital in Houston. He always joked that she gave up a whole ward of men and took him on as a full-time case. In 1947, he began his ministry as Campus Minister at Sam Houston University. He was the founding pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bryan.

DAVID LEE WILSON

David Lee Wilson, age 73 of Hooks, Texas passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Wilson was born October 4, 1943 in Texarkana, Texas.  He was an employee of Best Fence Company, member of the Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church, United States Army and National Guard Veteran and is preceded in death by a brother, Chester Wilson and a sister, Shirley Marron.
Survivors include his wife Annie Faye Wilson of Hooks, Texas, two daughters and sons in law, Cynthia and David Scott Hendrix of Hooks, Texas, Jennifer and Joe Myers of Hooks, Texas, one sister, Betty Stovall of Terrell, Texas, one brother  Jerrell Wilson of Leary, Texas, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren  and a  number of other relatives and friends.

FRED GARLAND SHAVERS, JR.

Fred Garland Shavers, Jr. passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 at his home in De Kalb, Texas. He was 73.

Fred was the second child of seven children born to Fred and Willis Hall Shavers of Dekalb, Texas. He joined Mt Pisgah Baptist Church as a young child.  He and his older sister Barbara were baptized at the pool in the cow pasture across the Garland road from the church. At the time of his death, Fred and his wife Dayte Hodge Shavers attended Praise Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship Cathedral in Shreveport, Louisiana.

RUBY LEE DYKE GIBBS

Ruby Lee Dyke Gibbs, of Simms, TX, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Hospice of Texarkana Inpatient Care Center. She was 94.
Ruby was born November 30, 1922, in the College Hill Community of De Kalb, Texas, to Jim and Erma Hefley Cooper. She was a Homemaker, a member of the Wards Creek Ladies Auxillary and a member of Wards Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Simms, Texas. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Elbert Dyke and Boyd Gibbs; two sisters, Emma Smith and Helen Barrett; two brothers, Bo Cooper and James Ray Cooper; and a grandson, David Mack Box.

WILLIAM RICHARD JONES

William Richard Jones age 64 of New Boston, Texas passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Jones was born December 24, 1952 in St. Louis. Missouri.  He was a Pastor,  Production Manager with Ledwell and member of Everett Baptist Church, Hooks, Texas.
 Survivors include his wife, Ronda Jones of New Boston, Texas, one daughter and son in law, Heather and Dan Cannon of New Albany, Indiana, one stepson, Derrick Collins of Texarkana, Texas, two step daughters and step son in law, Aerriel Collins of Simms, Texas, Auttumn and Corbin Owens of New Boston, Texas, two sons, William Jones and Phillip Jones of New Boston, Texas, one grandson, Brantley Cannon of New Albany, Indiana, one grand daughter, Athena Owens of New Boston, Texas and a number of  other relatives and friends. 
Memorial Services will be held at  11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Everett  Baptist Church, Hooks, Texas  with Bro. Roy Ford officiating.   There is no set visitation.

NOBIE HAUCK

Noble James  Hauck IV age 54 of Hooks, Texas passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Hauck was born May 15, 1963 in Shreveport, Louisiana.  He was a self employed painter, attended Myrtle Springs Baptist Church and is preceded in death by a son, Noble J. Hauck V and his mother, Patsy Rateliff.
Survivors include his wife, Terri Hauck of Hooks, Texas, one daughter, Anna Hauck of Hooks, Texas, one sister, Angela Corbin of Hooks, Texas, his grandchildren, Katelynn, Jacob and Hayden Listebarger all of Hooks, Texas, his father, Jim Hauck of Greenwood, Louisiana, one uncle, Tab Adcock of Texarkana, Arkansas, two aunts, Lisa Thomas of New Boston, Texas, Carol Hale of Doyline, Louisiana and a number of other relatives and friends.

JAMES “BIG JIM” JIMMY CRAWFORD

Jimmy “Big Jim” Crawford, age 78 of New Boston, Texas passed away Saturday, July 29 2017 at the Hospice of Texarkana facility.  Mr. Crawford was born July 30, 1938 in Bowie County, Texas.  He was formerly  employed by Lone Star Steel, and at LSAAP (D&Z), in the machine shop, was part owner of B & C Inc,  he was retired from Red River Army Depot and from Barfield Enterprises.  After retirement he was a farmer and rancher.  He was a past Master of the Masonic Lodge #69 of New Boston and a member of the New Boston Church of Christ.  He was preceded in death by his parents Delma and Ruby Fowler Crawford, Brother Bill Crawford and two sisters Pat Waldrum and Joyce Reber.

Billie Norris Wood

Billie Norris Wood, of Hooks, Texas passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at a De Kalb, Texas care facility. He was 88.
Billie was born June 11, 1929, in Bowie County, Texas to Hubert and Rubye Jackson Wood. He was an owner and operator of Warren & Wood Barber Shop in De Kalb, Texas and a co-owner of Russell’s Donuts in New Boston, Texas. Mr. Wood was a Veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Norma Jo Wright Wood and Weda Russell Wood; a sister Doris Mashburn; and a brother Wayne Wood.
He is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Ricky and Sara Wood of Carrollton, Texas, Lindsey Wood of Denton, Texas, Corey Wood of Denton, Texas and Jerry and Michela Russell of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; a daughter, Debbie and John Franklin of Hooks, Texas; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous other family members and friends.

Bertha Lee Neal

Bertha Lee Neal, of De Kalb, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. She was 82.
Bertha was born January 25, 1935, in New Boston, Texas, to Sam and Mary Lee Haywood Crutchfield. On July 19, 1969, she was married to Willie James Neal, Sr. in New Boston, Texas. She was a former cook in the restaurant industry and was of the Christian faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Crawford Wyse, Sr. (Nen), two brothers, Tostie Lee and Tostie Miller; a son, Jerry Wyse Sr.; and a daughter, Mary Jean Wyse.
