School choice is your choice
When my oldest daughter was old enough to start school, we lived in a suburb of Dallas. I did not want my kids to go to public school in the big city, so we made a choice. Yes, we made a choice. We chose a private school. Thankfully we had a great church with great teachers and that is where our daughter got her first year of education. It was our choice. But there were no vouchers to pay for it, we paid for it, because it was our choice to put her there.

Bowie County Master Gardeners & Texas A&M – Texarkana Present:“Getting Started with Honeybees”
The Bowie County Master Gardeners and Texas A&M-Texarkana’s Extended Education and Community Development Department will host the program “Getting Started with Honeybees” on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The class is free and open to the public. The class will take place in the University Building, Room 326. No reservation is required to attend. The program will be presented by Heather McBride Bowie County Master Gardener Trainee.

WM Neighborhood Committee Awards Local Non-Profits Grants for their Community Efforts
Eleven non-profits from the New Boston area will be honored at the annual WM Neighborhood Recognition Grants Awards Presentation Dinner at 6:30 p.m. February 8 at Maria’s Tex-Mex. The New Boston Landfill Neighborhood Committee will award $10,000 in grant funds to non-profit projects which provide a service to the community or enhance the local environment. The 2023 honorees include 3 Bostons Museum, Bowie County Soil and Water Conservation District, Community Kitchen, Magnolia Cemetery Association, New Boston Education Foundation, Nick’s Mission Backpack Program, Pulaski Cemetery Association, Runnin’ WJ Therapeutic Riding Center, Telford Prison Ministries, United Fund of New Boston, and West Bowie County Rotary Club. Since the Neighborhood Recognition Grants Awards were established in 2002, WM New Boston Landfill has provided $220,000 in funding for the committee to award to local non-profits. The grants are available to any non-profit group that enhances the local environment or provides services in the community. Services involving clean-ups and beautification efforts in New Boston and Bowie County are given preference.
