Boogie Fever: 1971
The Texarkana Museums System celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year! Help us continue our celebration of 1971 and give in to those feelings of nostalgia by dancing the night away. Join us on April 17, 2021 from 7pm to 9pm at the Ace of Clubs Lawn. We will be playing the hits and dancing the greatest trends from the 1970s. So, put on your best 70’s outfit and boogie shoes and meet us on the dance floor! Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Donations will be in honor of the Texarkana Museums Systems 50th Anniversary. The event is also BYOB, in case you need some liquid courage. Please register in advance.
The Ace of Clubs House was built in 1885, in the height of the Victorian period and has an unusual floor plan featuring three octagonal rooms at one end and a long rectangular room at the other. It was a private residence for one hundred years and was owned by three different families, before Miss Olivia, the last residence, left it to the Texarkana Museums System in 1985. The Ace of Clubs House offers guided tours Tuesday through Sunday and typically hosts special events such as workshops, lectures, and other activities on the third Saturday of the month.
