BBB Accepting Nominations for 2023 BBB Awards for Excellence

Today BBB announces a call for nominations for the 2023 BBB Awards for Excellence, which honor businesses and charities who demonstrate superior integrity, reliability and trustworthiness. All BBB Accredited Businesses and Accredited Charities who have a physical location within the nineteen (19) counties served by BBB Central East Texas are eligible to be nominated and to receive a prestigious BBB Award.

County Conservation Partners Host Annual Local Work Group Meeting

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Bowie County Soil and Water Conservation Districts are seeking input from the public on how to best serve local citizens through Farm Bill conservation programs and technical assistance. The public is invited to attend their Fiscal Year 2023 Local Working Group (LWG) meeting February 6, 2023, starting at 11:00 am.

The Bowie County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors would like to acknowledge the 2023 District Conservation Poster and Essay Contest winners. In the Poster contest, 1 st Place was awarded to Darla Griggs from Redwater Intermediate School, 2 nd Place was awarded to Nevaeh Matlock from Liberty Elau Middle School, and 3 rd Place was awarded to Madalyn James from Malta ISD. In the Essay Contest, 1 st Place was awarded to Tyler Hawkins from DeKalb High School, 2 nd Place was awarded to Chloe Smith from DeKalb High School, and 3 rd Place was awarded to Kyndra Andrews from DeKalb High School.

What’s happening at the American Legion Post 488 New Boston Sundays - Open at 12 noon football and snacks, pool tournament 4PM Closed - Mondays Tuesday - Open 2 pm - 12 am Wednesday - Over 50 Dart Tournament games start at 7:30 pm Thursdays - Dart Tournament start at 7:30 pm & Pool Tournament start at 7:15 pm Fridays - Pool Tournament start at 7:15 pm Saturdays - live band and dance 8 pm It’s time again to come together for the Western Bowie County Retired Teachers Association for the 2022-23 year. Come and join us for fellowship, updates to legislation, informational topics, and guest speakers. We will be meeting: February 27- Bowie Bee Apiary March 27-Little Country Greenhouse April 24-Celebrate We have several projects that we will be involved in including “Walk Across texas and “The Childrens Book project” where we will read to kindergarten classes and distribute books to the students. This year’s schools involved include Hooks, New Boston and Redwater. - Melissa Raney
