Local Boy Scouts earn Eagle Scout rank after being in scouts together since grade school
Saturday, January 21 at 3 p.m. at Tapp Methodist Church in New Boston, three local boys will earn the highest rank achievable in the Scout BSA program, Eagle Scout. Fisher Pickens, Preston Brewer, and Dalton Singleton have been in the Scout program together since they were Tiger Scouts in 2012. All three boys were nominated by their peers for the Order of the Arrow (OA). OA is the honor society of the Boy Scouts of America composed of Scouts who exemplify the Scout Oath and Law. Preston’s Eagle Project was Read Hill Cemetery Maintenance where he led the Scouts in refurbishing headstones. Fisher’s Eagle Project was Duck Boxes for Bowie Coun-ty where he led Scouts to create and distribute approximately 30 duck boxes throughout the county. Dalton’s Eagle Project was High School Hygiene, where he orchestrated a fundraiser raising over $1000, purchased hygiene products, and shelved the project at DeKalb High School.
