Busy days for barbers as the state opens up

With everything opening back up, one of the first things many people are doing is going to get a haircut. Barber shops are busy almost the entire time they are open, and David’s Hair Designs in New Boston is no different.
Longtime New Boston barber David Phelps talked about the barber shop saying, “We have been extremely busy up here. Between the seven of us that work up here we are probably giving 70 to 100 haircuts a day.”

The barber shops were just recently allowed to open up under Governor Abbott’s Phase One of reopening. “We have been closed for seven weeks, and right now it shows because we never slow down at any time in the day,” David said as he spoke to how busy they stay.

Even with barber shops being open there are still guidelines in which customers and operators must follow according to Phelps. “Customers are required to wear a mask from the door to the chair. If they want to take it off once they get in the chair, that is up to them. We are also required to make sure that we are following social distancing protocols. There are times where we have to ask people to wait out in their cars until it is their turn due to how many people we have in there. Some are requiring people to call ahead and make appointments, we are strongly advising you to do this as well because you never know how long you may have to wait.”

Even with all the restrictions and the time they have been closed, people are being completely understanding according to David. “Everyone that comes in here is being completely understanding and cooperative. I have to give them a pat on the back. They are understanding that there may be a wait and that they have rules they have to follow just like we do. I cannot thank them enough.”
Even with all the stylists being as busy as they are, they can find a time to squeeze you in. You can find David’s Hair Designs at 119 E North Street, New Boston, Texas. You can contact them at (903) 628-3821.
