Virtual 5K to benefit area students in need

To counter the impact of Covid-19 on fundraising and holding events, a local group will host the first ever Texarkana Cares Virtual 5K. This event will run from February 1 through March 31, so participants can get registered and submit their results to the event organizers as they are completed.

All the proceeds from this event will benefit the Texas A&M University Texarkana Eagle Pantry. The Eagle Pantry feeds student success by providing essential non-perishable and personal hygiene items to students in need, and is available to any student.

Registration for the Texarkana Cares Virtual 5K is just  $20.00 per adult, and there is a separate registration for students (both TAMUT, local colleges, and K-12) that is $10.00 per registrant. To sign up go to https://runsignup.com/Race/TX/Texarkana/TexarkanaCaresVirtual5K
Since this event is virtual and timing is honor-system based, there will not be prizes for the fastest participant. You can walk, jog, run, bike, hike, or swim - anything counts! Be on the lookout for information about door prizes and giveaways!
Feel free to email pictures of your training or event by sending them to txkcares5k@gmail.com! Your pictures will be added to the race page for all participants to see.
