Alfred “Kooter” B. Blalock of New Boston, Texas passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 in a Texarkana, Texas care facility.

He was 82.

Alfred was born August 4, 1940 in Bloomburg, Texas to Floyd Raymond and Mildred Nix Blalock. He was a retired inventory expeditor for Red River Army Depot and was a member of the Four States Square Dance Club. Alfred was of the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Eva Jo and Jerry Long; and one brother, Ward “Bug” Blalock.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Wood Blalock of New Boston, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna “Sissy” and Ronnie Allen of New Boston, Texas and Judith “Judi” and Tony Walker of De Kalb, Texas; one sister-in-law, Janet Blalock of Queen City, Texas; five grandchildren, Jennifer Haywood and her husband, Ray, Bryan Allen, Joshua Garton-Walker and his wife, Katielyn, D’Edra Walker, and Billy Walker; eight great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Steve Minter officiating.

Visitation was held 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Sunday February 12, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
