BETTYE MYRUL INGRAM PHILLIPS

Bettye Myrul Ingram Phillips passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022, at her home in Lubbock, Texas.

She was 80.

Bettye was born July 30, 1942 in Clarksville, Texas, to Charlie and Arvelma Ingram. She became a member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church and was a faithful member until moving to Lubbock, Texas.

In Lubbock, she met her husband, Otis Jerry Phillips, and to this union, two children were born, Rejena and Barbara. She became a member of Manhattan Heights SDA Church while living in Lubbock and remained a faithful member. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a proud grandmother.

Bettye worked for Tyco SimplexGrinnell as a technician from 1977 until her retirement in 2006. After retiring, she became an entrepreneur through various business ventures and worked part-time at Lubbock Independent School District until her diagnosis of dementia. Bettye loved working and serving people.

Bettye leaves behind beloved family members to cherish many beautiful memories: husband, Otis Jerry Phillips of Lubbock, Texas; daughters, Rejena Meeks of Lubbock, Texas, and Barbara (Ricky) Jones of Killeen, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Vaughn of De Kalb, Texas, and Shirley (Thomas) Vaughn of De Kalb, Texas; one uncle, Narvell Ingram of Carlsbad, New Mexico, and one aunt, Bell Giddens of Carlsbad, New Mexico; grandchildren, Ashlee Ericksen of Coppell, Texas; Christopher (Karessa) Phillips of Houston, Texas; Brandyn Meeks of Austin, Texas; Amanda (Derrick) Cotton of Round Rock, Texas; and Brittney Meeks of Lubbock, Texas; Ricky (Vjollca) Jones Jr. of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and Donyale Jones of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; two lifelong friends, Geneva Cooper, and Willie Cooper; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Dillard Ingram, Chester Ingram, and Cory Ingram; and two sisters, Ruby Coleman, and Ethel Lee Bridges. Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas. Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, November 4, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. Online registration at www.batesfamilyfuneralhome.com.
