CHARLES R. GAYLON, SR.
Charles R. Galyon, Sr., formerly of Simms, Texas, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at his home in Texarkana, Texas. He was 92.
Charles was born Decemeber 9, 1930, in Bells, Texas, to Clifford D. And Ivy Lee Smith Galyon. On June 16, 1956, he was married to Patricia Pengelly in Grand Prairie, Texas. Charles was a retired Law Enforcement Officer having served for 25 years with the City of Dallas Police Department. He also worked at Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant for 5 years and was a member of Cross Bar J Ministries. Charles was a Veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Faye Bunch.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Galyon of Texarkana, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles R., Jr. and Catherine Galyon of Mt. Olive, North Carolina, Timothy D. And Tracy Galyon of Whitney, Texas and David E. and Jerri Galyon of Simms, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Mary Galyon of Savoy, Texas and John and Paula Galyon of Bonham, Texas; two sisters, Billy Ruth Johnson of Berthoud, Colorado and Jo Barrientez of Mid West, Oklahoma; a brother-in-law and his wife, Donald and Melinda Pengelly of Cloud Croft, New Mexico; a sister-in-law, Martha Pengelly of Grand Prairie, Texas, a daughter- in-law, Kathy Galyon; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services were held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Dalby Springs Cemetery with Frank Johnson officiating.
Visitation was held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
