Evelyn Marie (Pierce) Wheeler, age 92 of New Boston, Texas died Thursday, July 16, 2020, at home. 
Evelyn was born September 14, 1927 in New Boston, the second of five children to Sid and Myrtle Pierce. 
She was a faithful follower of Christ and served many years as a Sunday School teacher, Director of Woman’s Missionary Union and active committee member at First Baptist Church in New Boston where she was a lifelong member. 
Throughout her adult life she volunteered with United Way, supported families in the Foster Care system, and volunteered in the Telford Prison Ministry. Evelyn also served as a local and district leader in Girl Scouts of America. 
She graduated from New Boston High School in 1944 and pursued professional training at Draughon’s Business College in Dallas. After graduation, Evelyn returned to her hometown to work for the Superintendent of School in NBISD.
She married James T. (Tom) Wheeler on October 8, 1948 and they enjoyed life together for more than 50 years.  
Evelyn is survived by son and daughter-in-law Paul and Mary Wheeler of Richardson, daughter Lynn Wheeler of San Diego, California, daughter and son-in-law Karen and Paul Kemp of Waco, sister Doris Harbor of McKinney, brother and sister-in-law Ray and Gloria Pierce of Rancho Bernardo, California, grandson and family Thomas, Lorena and Rosita Wheeler of Dallas and grandson and spouse Mitchell and Caitlin Kemp of Dallas.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 19, 2020 at First Baptist Church in New Boston. Interment will be at Ringwood Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Rolf Funeral Home of New Boston.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to Telford Prison Ministries, Inc., 214 N. Lindsey St., New Boston, TX 75570, to support the expansion of Haven of Hope.
