  • Julius Lavon Easter


Julius Lavon Easter transitioned to his Heavenly home on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Julius was born July 10.

1959 in Quanah, Texas to Lula Pearl and Troy Easter.

He attended and graduated from De Kalb High School. He was employed as a horse trainer and rider for Richard Hulett, Starkey Smith, and Paul Stoker, as well as repairing water wells with David Coleman.

He worked many years until he became disabled when injured by a horse. Julius was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in De Kalb.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Julian S. Easter; three brothers, Larry Easter, Harry Easter, and Jackie Easter; and four nephews.

He is survived by his girlfriend of many years, Mattie Wickerson; three sons, Jason Roberts of Oklahoma, Julius Easter, Jr. of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Javonte Denson of De Kalb, Texas; one daughter, Shanika Wherry of Dallas, Texas; one bonus daughter, Cha-Nya AKA “Appleseed”; six sisters, Freddie (George) Proby of De Kalb, Texas, Melba Easter of De Kalb, Texas, Sheryl (Keith) Wiggins of Texarkana, Texas, Patsy (Isaiah) Hill of Texarkana, Texas, and Marvo Easter of Greenville, Texas; two brothers, Delmar (Wanda) Easter of New Boston, Texas and David Easter of De Kalb, Texas; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services were held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, November 4, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. Interment followed at Beaver Dam Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.
