District play fires up in local baseball action
Tuesday night in DeKalb was the Brian Reid show, as the New Boston hurler pitched an excellent
outing and fired things up with his bat as well and the Lions toppled the Bears 4-1.
Reid earned the win on the mound allowing just one hit and one run in six plus innings on the
mound, and also went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI’s at the plate.
Travis Daniel took the loss for the Bears allowing four runs on three hits while striking out 13.
The Hooks Hornets traveled to Queen City Tuesday night, and quickly put a leash on the host
Bulldogs winning their game by a score of 8-1.
The big inning for Hooks was the 5th, as they blasted the QC pitching staff for four runs in the frame
led by RBI hits from Adam Whitlock, Eli Thomas, Logan Davis and Matthew Hays to put the game
Ty Thomerson notched the win on the hill for the Hornets allowing one run on five hits and striking
out four in six innings of work.
The Redwater Dragons also notched a big win on Tuesday, as they manhandled Fouke by a score of
9-4, thanks to a three run 3rd inning and four more runs in the 4th frame.
Kyle Taylor earned the win for the Dragons allowing four runs on four hits in four innings.
At the plate, Kade Clinton was 3-for-3 with three RBI’s for the Dragons and teammate Kaleb Narens
was 1-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in.
In Simms, the Pirates caged the Avery Bulldogs 20-3 as Whitt Rogers earned the win on the hill.
Rogers allowed just one hit in four innings of work and was also 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI’s and a run
scored to lead the Pirates.
The Pirates had the hot bats on the night as Zane DeBerry also chimed in with a 2-for-3 and three
RBI performance, and Garrett Brown, Logan McCullough, Gunner Robinson and Brandon Obenoskey
each added a pair of RBI’s to fuel the James Bowie juggernaut.
In other baseball action Tuesday night, the Maud Cardinals were shutout 11-0 by Linden-Kildare.
