High speed action at 201 G0-Kart Speedway

Most people know go-karts by the type of vehicle you or your kids played with around the yard that went about 15 to 20 miles an hour, but at 201 Go-Kart speedway it is just a little bit different.

These go-karts at 201 Speedway go in excess of 40 miles an hour on a track that is one tenth of a mile long. Go-Kart racing can be a way to start your racing career to move on up to dirt track racing, truck racing, and possibly even on up to NASCAR, or it can be something for the entire family to enjoy.

201 Go-Kart Speedway is located just north of New Boston on County Road 3004. The speedway is very unique especially for this area. Ryan Lynch, American former professional stock car racing driver, from New Boston, talked about the uniqueness of the track saying, “There are not very many go-kart tracks around here. There used to be one in Texarkana, but now the closest one is in Winnsboro. However, that is not the only thing that makes us unique. This track is probably the only asphalt track within a six-hour drive.”

Fans and drivers that come on out might even recognize the shape of the track according to helping operator, Christy Lynch Walls. Walls says, “Fans that come out might notice that the track looks very familiar. The track is modeled after Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.”
Racing is always about having the fastest time and finishing in first. At 201 Go-Kart Speedway winning is just as important, but they also have other reasons to come out to the track according to Christy. “Everyone who races wants to have the fastest time, but we really just like for the families to come out and have fun. It is a chance to come out, hangout with friends and family, and have a picnic. It is an opportunity to just go fast and have fun.”

Getting into go-kart racing does not have to be super expensive. At 201 Go-Kart Speedway they have a class that all it takes is a kart, a $100 engine from Harbor Freight, some protective gear, and a little bit of fun.
Races are held every other weekend with the first races already held on May 31st. The next race will be held on June 14th. Every other Sunday following that, weather permitting, they will be racing. The gates open around noon, and the races begin at 2 p.m. The entry fee is $5 for spectators and those helping the racers, $30 for kid racers, and $40 for adult racers.

Make sure to bring food, drinks, and snacks because while they do pass out water and popsicles, they do not provide concessions. If you would like to know any more information you can find them on Facebook at “201 Go-Kart Speedway”. They post updates and also have the schedule on there as well. The speedway is located on County Road 3004  in New Boston.
