Lady Lions, Lady Hornets earn wins

New Boston and Hooks notched big district wins Tuesday night in local volleyball action with the Lady Lions devouring the Queen City Bulldogs and the Lady Hornets stinging Paul Pewitt.


New Boston was paced by 12 service points and 13 digs from Maggie Taylor and yet another solid performance up front  from Lauren Hurst who powered 10 kills.

Also coming up big for the Lady Lions was Carleigh Reeves with seven kills and a trifecta of blocks and Grace Duffer with 15 assists.


The Lady Lions will get back on the court Friday night, as they travel to Redwater for a district showdown with huge playoff implication. It is a varsity only night with play beginning at 4:30 p.m.


The New Boston JV squads split with QC Tuesday night as JV2 fell 25-15 and 25-9 and JV1 getting a W with Alandrea Walker leading the way with 15 points from the service stripe.



The Lady Hornets swept the ladies from Paul Pewitt 25-22, 25-17 and 25-21 with Eva Johnson providing the big punch with 20 service points, 20 assists and six digs.


It was a busy night on the Hooks stat sheet as senior Abby Russ ended the match with 11 points from service, eight kills, five digs and three blocks, Alley Jefferson working hard with 16 digs and Emma Farquhar flying high with 12 kills and 30 digs.

Also having a big night was Lexie Frachiseur who was in beast mode up front 18 kills and 17 blocks up front at the net and also seven digs.


Both JV squads from Hooks earned wins as JV 2 won 25-12 and 25-15 as Kaclyn Nelson had 15 points from the service stripe and Jordan Ragland added seven.


The JV1 Lady Hornets took their match 25-23 and 25-15  with Kaclyn Nelson and Tiara Rigsby each having six service points.
