McAlexander hurls perfect game for Lady Lions

New Boston Lady Lion senior Morgan Alexander tossed a perfect game Tuesday night to lead the Lady Lions to a 11-0 shutout of the DeKalb Lady Bears.

McAlexander has been almost unhittable so far this season and between she and pitcher Lauren Hurst, the ladies from New Boston are poised to have a very successful year of high school softball.

In her five innings on the hill Tuesday night, she struck out 14 of the 15 batters DeKalb sent to the plate.

On the offensive side, Carlee Ratcliff would score the only run support that the Lady Lions would need with a solo shot over the fence in the 1st inning. It was Ratcliff’s third dinger already this season.

McAlexander, Alexis Morden, Emma Holland and Lauren Daniel also had RBI hits in the game. The Lady Lions also showed their skills on the base paths with 13 steals, six of those on the speedy legs of Haley McAlexander.

The Lady Lions will fire it up again on Thursday in the 19th annual McDonald’s Classic in New Boston.
