Redwater downs New Boston with barrage in the 5th
In baseball action Tuesday night, the Redwater Dragons scored seven times in the bottom of the 5th to overcome a 5-1 deficit and go on to defeat New Boston 8-5.
The Lions got on the board first with a sac fly off the bat of Isaac Whittington giving his squad the early lead. Four walks and a hit batsman helped the Redwater lineup score their seven runs that put the game away.
Malcolm Brown earned the win on the hill for Redwater allowing three hits and striking out 12 in six plus innings of work. Kyle Atkinson took the loss for the Lions allowing four hits and seven runs in his time on the mound.
In other Tuesday night play, the DeKalb Bears lost to Atlanta 11-2.
In baseball action on Monday night, the Hooks Hornets downed Ashdown by a score of 5-1. The Hornet lineup notched three runs in the 4th inning to get the lead and keep it on their way to beating Ashdown.
Brayden Ross earned the win on the mound for Hooks as he gave up just six hits and a run in five plus innings of working while striking out nine.
Also on Monday, the Maud Cardinals blanked the Avery Bulldogs 15-0.
Cardinal hurlers Tucker Sanders and Cade Townsend combined to throw the shutout win. Townsend got the start and the win, allowing just one hit and striking out six in three plus innings on the hill.
Ethan Pasley took the loss for Avery.
At the plate, the Cards were led by Townsend, who went 4-for 4 with five RBI’s and a homerun.
The Cardinal bats were on fire with a total of 19 hits in the game as Townsend, Cason Lamb, Ryan Griffin, Rayne Bailey and Payton Windham each contributed with multi-hit performances.
