Tuesday night baseball recap

Tuesday night was full of blowouts and close games in local baseball action. With five out of seven local teams playing there were four games to go watch last night.

De Kalb traveled over to New Boston, Hooks traveled out to Queen City, Maud played Campbell at home, and Redwater drove out to Omaha to play Pewitt.

New Boston and De Kalb had pitchers that were dealing last night with it being a low scoring affair, with the Lions coming out on top 1-0.

New Boston’s lone score came as Brain Reid hit a sacrifice fly to center field with Matt Dunn tagging up at third and scoring. Tyler Strain went 2 for 3 on the night, and Reid had the only RBI.

Matt Dunn went 1-3 with one run. Dunn also went the distance as the pitcher, striking out eight in seven innings of work. On the other side, De Kalb pitcher Kole Dooley also went the distance, throwing six innings with four strikeouts and one earned run.

The other close game was Hooks taking on Queen City.

Hooks’ pitcher, TJ Krause, started the game and went six and two-thirds innings as he handed out 10 strikeouts and gave up zero earned runs. He also had a good night at the plate as he went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Matthew Hays went 1 for 3 with an RBI and one walk. Deacon Patterson also had himself a night as he went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Hooks comes away with the win 3-2.

Campbell traveled to Maud and they went home empty handed. Maud had their bats rolling as they rolled over Campbell with a 12-2 score. Briley Barron earned the win as the pitcher while going four and one-third innings. Nate Brower had a great night at the plate as he brought in four runs while going 3 for 4 with a triple. Tristian White also had a good night as he went 2 for 3 with one RBI. Rayne Brown batted leadoff and he went 1 for 2 with two RBIs.

Redwater played in Omaha and they took on Pewitt. They ended up walking away from this game pretty good as they took the game 8-1. Preston Davis was doing it all for Redwater as he went 1 for 3 at the plate with three RBIs and one base-on-balls, and also threw six innings from the mound and sat down 14 batters while giving up zero earned runs. Garrett Johnson went 2 for 4 while scoring one time. Dalton Robertson went 2 for 2 batting, driving in two RBIs.
