New Boston & Hooks In the last regular season game of the year, the Hooks Hornets remained undefeated in district play. In their week 11 win over New Boston, Trip Baysinger completed 6 of 13 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown while rushing 3 times for 20 yards and a touchdown. Keyshawn Walls rushed 25 times for 212 yards and 3 touchdowns. Dontravipous Coulter rushed 6 times for 43 yards and a touchdown. Matthew Hays had 2 receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Logan Baker had one single tackle but assisted in 19 total tackles for the Hornets. Daniel Godfrey had 2 tackles, 8 assists and 4 tackles for a loss. Ripken Birdwell had 2 solo tackles and assisted in 19 tackles and 3 tackles for a loss. For the Lions, Jonah Sanchez had 3 rushes for 36 yards and a touchdown. Dontae Thompson had 11 rushes for 74 yards and a touchdown and 2 catches for 13 yards. Jomar Smith had 7 carries for 32 yards and a touchdown. Xavier Rowden completed 7 of 10 passes for 65 yards. The Lions came up short in the matchup falling to the Hornets 41-21. New Boston is 5-5 on the season and 4-2 in district. They enter the playoffs in third place and face off against Grand Saline (75) on Thursday November 10th in Mount Pleasant at 7:00 PM.

New Boston The New Boston Lions rushed 32 times for 359 yards and 5 touchdowns in their week 10 victory over Chisum. Jomar Smith was the leading rusher for the Lions with 9 carries for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns. Dontae Thomspon had 4 carries for 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Ashton Rowden rushed 4 times for 45 yards and a touchdown. While the rain did affect both teams ability to pass, William Henson had a 25 yard reception for a touchdown. The Lion defense held Chisum to 1 score on the night. The game ended in the rain with a final score of 42-7 with the Lions improving to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in district. DeKalb & Hooks DeKalb and Hooks met for what has so far been the game of the year in Bowie County. A game that surely decided who would win the district was not won easily, especially in the cold and wet weather conditions in DeKalb. With rain pouring down, the DeKalb Bears rushed 49 times for 284 yards. Kiondre Schlesinger had 17 carries for 97 yards and 1 touchdown. Kaleb Dooley and Ja’Marcus Eastman both had a touchdown for the Bears. Defensively Ross Tapley had 12 tackles and a fumble recovery. Koby Spurgeon had 10 tackles, 2 for a loss and 1 sack. Conrad Crouch had 8 tackles and 1 interception. Tyler Hawkins had 7 tackles and caused a fumble. For the Hornets, Quarterback Trip Baysinger completed 9 of 14 passes for 217 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception while rushing 5 times for 20 yards and a touchdown. Keyshawn Walls rushed 25 times for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns. Carter Harris had 3 receptions for 126 yards and a touchdown. Jatavious Johnson had 5 receptions for 90 yards. Matthew Hays was 4/4 in extra points on the night. This proved to be an important statistic as the nail biter ended deep in the final seconds of the fourth quarter with a final score of 28-24, Hornets over Bears.

New Boston The New Boston Lions improved to 4-4 after their week 9 matchup against Prairiland. The Lions totaled 351 total yards of offense. Jeremiah Hardeman had another big week for the Lions with 9 carries for 54 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jomar Smith had 7 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Xavier Rowden completed 6 of 8 passes for 65 yards while rushing for 10 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Jalen Smith had 2 pick-sixes and a fumble recovery. Kaden Hall had 10 tackles overall, 3 tackles for a loss, a forced fumble and recovery and an interceptions for the Lions. The game ended with New Boston on top, 56-20. DeKalb The DeKalb Bears are now 7-1 and have not allowed a touchdown since playing Paul Pewitt on October 7th. The Bear Defense produced another shutout, this time over Chisum. Ross Tapley and Tyler Hawkins each had 13 tackles on the night. Cory Ingram put up 11 tackles. Offensively, the Bears ran only 30 plays as the Chisum game clock ran nonstop the entire game. Kaleb Dooley threw a 21 yard touchdown pass to Kiondre Schlesigner. Schlesigner also rushed 24 times for 286 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kayden Wherry rushed 8 times for 102 yards and one touchdown. Final score 30-0.
