Double Trouble / Double the Fun
Double Trouble / Double the Fun
On the first day of school, I was six years old. I fainted right there on the porch of that old school building and somehow tumbled behind a hedge. For a few chaotic moments, I was officially “missing.” Turns out I forgot to breathe. Yep—lesson number one in life: breathing matters! 10/30/2024 09:02 AM

Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (NKJV) I want to dedicate this devotion to my mom & mother-in-law because this verse is their favorite scripture. Proverbs 3:5-6 are some of the most powerful and popular scriptures in the Bible. These life altering verses can be broken into four parts: Trust in the Lord with all of your heart. 10/30/2024 09:01 AM

Nights to never forget
Nights to never forget
Life can often be very hard. Sometimes it is harder than we believe we can take. Then there are the times of absolute beauty and happiness. Every now and then we have the rare opportunity to see the two intertwine. This past week, I did. 10/23/2024 09:01 AM

Write Hope with a Story
At a recent trade show in Paris, Texas, I explained my love for words and discussed details about some of the 28 books I’ve written with a mother of two girls, who bought several copies. One of the girls, who must have been seven or thereabout, exclaimed, “You wrote all of these books?” Before I could answer, she shook her head and replied, “Doesn’t your head hurt?” 10/23/2024 09:01 AM

Tick tock, not Tik Tok
Whether you prefer “live and let live” or “live and let die” there is a lot of wisdom in knowing that one of the best personal policies you might have is to stay away from the gossipmongers and to not interject yourself into other people’s lives and problems. 10/16/2024 09:04 AM
A Song. A Trench Coat. And the Old Rugged Cross
A Song. A Trench Coat. And the Old Rugged Cross
The man stood near the street sign, wrapped in a trench coat, as I drove through the intersection, his eyes following me and mine gazing at him. I had plans to deliver some drinks to my homeless friends, who lingered in a group at the next corner, so I kept going. After much laughter and chatting, the group dispersed, and I drove back up the same street. That’s when I noticed a guitar case resting upright by the stop sign, waiting for someone to come back and claim it. 10/16/2024 09:03 AM

I grew up a stone’s throw away from the Sulphur River in northern Franklin County. As a child I was always struck by how wild and untouched it seemed to be. With the exception of roads that crossed it out of necessity, it looked unchanged from centuries ago. 10/09/2024 09:03 AM
