Stormy Holidays
I shared from John 6 as I spoke to a group of ladies about Christ walking on water to His disciples in a storm where he said, “It is I; do not be afraid,” one of the ladies cried as I read the scripture. Have you ever thought about the storms in your life? Do yours come at you so fast you barely catch your breath? For some of you, with Christmas ahead and on the heels of Thanksgiving, the holiday will remind you how your family isn’t perfect like the ones in photos on social media. Or you find yourself alone. Or wishing to go home but can’t afford to pursue such a dream.

Celebrate the Birth of Jesus
Hello everyone! Merry Merry Christmas!!! Holidays are in full swing and I’m sure we’re all quite busy. I am trying to not rush the season and truly enjoy it. I pray for you to enjoy the season! Some of us might be celebrating Christmas differently and that’s ok! But GOD sent HIS SON JESUS! Savior of the world, Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counselor, and Enteral Hope for everyone! For the wealthiest man to the poorest man he came for everyone!

What Wikipedia Can’t Tell You
In preparation for the holidays, our family regularly contributes to Angel Tree’s, food boxes for the less fortunate, as well as supplying needs for homeless shelters. There is no shortage of needs to be met, and more people than ever need hope.

House Speaker Dade Phelan withdrew last week from seeking another term leading that chamber. After three rounds of voting on Saturday, state Rep. David Cook, R-Mansfield emerged as the preference of most House Republicans. However, his opponent, state Rep. Dustin Burrows, R-Lubbock, claims to have enough support from both Republicans and Democrats to clear the 76vote threshold.

Lip Balm instead of Beer
Mike stood outside his home, a worn-down place in Texarkana known for abandoned houses. I’d met Mike when he first begged me for a quarter, a journey of gathering coins for his beer. He even followed me inside the store, where I offered to buy him lip balm instead, which he accepted that I’d deterred him from his quarter-pan handling.

Filling those empty chairs
Last Thursday was Thanksgiving. Most of us sat with family, ate too much, watched football and got away from the cares of the world…for just a little while.

Attitude of Gratitude
We are in the midst of the holiday season. As time moves on, it seems we suddenly hop from Fourth of July, slide into Halloween, then jump into Christmas, stopping long enough to eat a delicious Thanksgiving meal before we open those presents under the tree. I’ve been guilty of thinking too little about the purpose of Thanksgiving, but as I “mature” (I didn’t say getting old, mind you), I realize how blessed I am. Nowadays I don’t limit it to a day a year.

Evil is everywhere. God is too
We live in a world full of evil. Bad people, bad things and bad situations exist, and it seems as if they exist more and more....everywhere.
