Where is the tranquility for our posterity
Where is the tranquility for our posterity
The race for the March 5 primary election is hitting the home stretch and it is most definitely heating up, and in my humble opinion, not in a good way. I am not so naive that there is not an understanding that politics can most times be an ugly business. Candidates for any office invest a significant amount of their time in an effort to win the seat they are running for, and in these days and time they also spend large amounts of money to get there as well. I often wonder what possesses a person to run for a public office. You can hope that most do it in the name of serving their constituents. You can hope that most do it out of a calling to make a difference in the world they live in. You might even hope that those who run for a political office do so out of a pride in the freedoms we hold in this country to vote and to hold an office. 02/14/2024 10:00 AM

TEA annual report just released The Texas Education Agency’s annual report was released last week. It indicates per-student funding in the 2021-2022 school year averaged $14,928 per student, up 42% since 2011. However, state funding has only risen slightly in the past decade, while local funding has increased substantially. 02/07/2024 10:00 AM

In a social media post this past week I made mention of my disdain for national politics and called for everyone to pray for our state and local politicians. They need that more than anything. Much has been made of our southern border, a razor wire fence, and the mass migration of people crossing that border seeking a new life in our country. 01/31/2024 10:00 AM

I had a conversation with a local mayor last Friday that got me to thinking about the state of the world. And when I say that, let me clarify that I really mean our little part of the world right here where we live. 01/17/2024 10:00 AM

Be the lifeline
Be the lifeline
It didn’t take long into the new year for things to happen that immediately try to take the shine off of the hope for a better year, and better days. When someone you know and wrote about takes his own life, there are questions. When a young lady loses the child growing inside of her, there are questions. When you see a woman that has dedicated her life to teaching kids and to living for Christ struggle with the horrors of cancer… there are questions. I have always been one that is unafraid of asking Him…why? When things like all of the above are going on, I ask. 01/10/2024 10:00 AM
