Lions, Hornets and Dragons all win
The New Boston Lions traveled to DeKalb Tuesday night and blanked the host Bears 5-0.
New Boston pitcher Tyler Strain earned the complete game shutout win for the Lions tossing seven innings and allowing just four hits while striking out seven. Kole Dooley took the loss for the Bears allowing 10 hits and striking out seven in seven innings of work.
At the plate, Gabe McCarty, Kyle Atkinson and Brian Reid had multi-hit performances for the Lions.
New Boston will host the McDonald’s Classic starting on Thursday.
The Hooks Hornets took down the Queen City Bulldogs on Tuesday night as the rocked QC for five runs in the 2nd inning with clutch RBI hits off the bat of Carter Duncan, Connor Price, Tanner Pounds, Ty Thomerson and Marquiz Estell. The Hornets went on to win the contest 7-4.
Thomerson notched the win for Hooks going six and two-thirds inning and allowing eight hits and four runs and striking out five.
The Redwater Dragons put in another solid outing on Tuesday as the shutout the Paul Pewit Brahmas by a score of 7-0 on the arm of starting pitcher Preston Davis.
Davis was near flawless as he tossed six innings, giving up just one hit and striking out 11. Malcolm Brown pitched a shutout inning in relief to close out the game.
At the plate, Mason Robertson was 3-for-3 for the Dragons and Brown had a pair of RBI’s.
