Good news for the weary
Some of you woke up this morning carrying a heaviness you didn’t sign up for. Maybe it’s the worry that clings like a shadow, doubt that gnaws at your faith, or sadness that won’t shake loose. Perhaps sickness has become too familiar, wrapping around your days like an unwelcome guest. Possibly, heartbreak has knocked the wind out of you, leaving you gasping for hope.

It’s not humanly possible
Kate Grosmaire and her husband, Andy, had just returned home from a Palm Sunday service in 2010 when they got the news their 19-year-old daughter Ann had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Ann had spent the day with her longtime boyfriend Conor. When the sheriff showed up at their door, Kate asked, ‘Was Conor with her?’ ‘Yes,’ he said, ‘he shot her.’ The rest of that night and next day were a blur. It was then they learned that their daughter and boyfriend had a breakup fight. Conor had intended to get his father’s shotgun to kill himself, but when the couple continued to argue, Conor ended up pulling the trigger and shooting Ann instead.

Stumbling Soup and flying confetti
There I was, parked in my car during street ministry, my windows slightly fogged from the contrast of the cold outside and the heater blowing inside. My supplies included socks, hand warmers, lip balm, blankets, and a stash of encouragement. My goal was simple: to connect with those who needed a little hope.

What Wikipedia Can’t Tell You
I often reminisce on my childhood, thinking of all the teachers I had in school. I certainly had my favorites. Like Miss Ashley in first grade. She allowed me to sit close to the windows where it would be cool on hot days. And then there was Miss Parr, my 3rd grade music teacher. She was tough, but taught me a lot. And I can’t forget Mr.

Warm Toes and Fingers
I rounded the corner, peering out the car window. A flicker of movement caught my eye—a figure darting up from the thicket with a quick, deliberate motion, only to duck back down. My heart skipped. Who was that? I was looking for my homeless friends, hoping to bring them a little warmth—hand warmers, blankets, scripture cards—just enough to remind them that someone cares. My eyes scanned the trails near the camps, watching for signs of life.

Facing Your Giants
In my humble opinion, I believe every person who has ever walked on this earth has faced at least one giant in their life. I’m not talking about huge scary monsters standing before you, I’m talking about situations that we face which seem insurmountable.
