Of raincoats and resilience
Of raincoats and resilience
The morning sky had wrung itself out, leaving behind a damp chill and streets lined with puddles. I was on my usual route, driving slowly, scanning for familiar faces or new ones—people just trying to survive another day. That’s when I saw him. 02/19/2025 10:01 AM
What Wikipedia Can’t Tell You
What Wikipedia Can’t Tell You
If anyone would have told me that I, as old as I am, would start a bold lifestyle change, I would say they were nuts … or worse. It goes to say you’re never too old to start listening to what doctors, experts, and your own body have been telling you (me) for a long time -- that I must be insane to keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. 02/19/2025 10:01 AM

Put your tax refund to work
Most of us probably don’t enjoy preparing our taxes, but there’s often a reward at the end — a tax refund. If you get a refund this year, how can you make the best use of it? 02/12/2025 10:03 AM

Good news for the weary
Good news for the weary
Some of you woke up this morning carrying a heaviness you didn’t sign up for. Maybe it’s the worry that clings like a shadow, doubt that gnaws at your faith, or sadness that won’t shake loose. Perhaps sickness has become too familiar, wrapping around your days like an unwelcome guest. Possibly, heartbreak has knocked the wind out of you, leaving you gasping for hope. 02/12/2025 10:02 AM
It’s not humanly possible
It’s not humanly possible
Kate Grosmaire and her husband, Andy, had just returned home from a Palm Sunday service in 2010 when they got the news their 19-year-old daughter Ann had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Ann had spent the day with her longtime boyfriend Conor. When the sheriff showed up at their door, Kate asked, ‘Was Conor with her?’ ‘Yes,’ he said, ‘he shot her.’ The rest of that night and next day were a blur. It was then they learned that their daughter and boyfriend had a breakup fight. Conor had intended to get his father’s shotgun to kill himself, but when the couple continued to argue, Conor ended up pulling the trigger and shooting Ann instead. 02/12/2025 10:02 AM

Stumbling Soup and flying confetti
Stumbling Soup and flying confetti
There I was, parked in my car during street ministry, my windows slightly fogged from the contrast of the cold outside and the heater blowing inside. My supplies included socks, hand warmers, lip balm, blankets, and a stash of encouragement. My goal was simple: to connect with those who needed a little hope. 02/05/2025 10:02 AM
