Don’t wish away Christmas
There’s always that question, “How did you get through this?” Now, the ‘this’ in your life can or could be the loss of a loved one. Or you lost a friend. Or the words cancer. Or the phrase divorce crept into your life. Or the fact your family might not be the reflection of perfection that jumps at you from the posts and photos portrayed on Facebook or in other areas. The conflict of wishing for a great life shoots at you like a star blazing across your heart. And, as you know, pain and sorrow and hurting days land like a sleigh of dread and you wish Christmas was over.

Avoid tapping into retirement savings early
If you want to make a big purchase, such as a new car or a piece of property, or you were faced with a large, unexpected expense, such as a major home or auto repair, would you have the funds readily available? If not, you might look at what may be your biggest pool of money — your 401(k) or IRA. But should you tap into these accounts well before you retire?

And now, the rest of the story
Well, we had another one of those things that don’t happen here, happen here. By now most of you have heard that there was a bomb scare at New Boston High School last Wednesday. If you had not heard, now you have. It was another one of those days that just is not supposed to happen around here. It was another day that seems absurd when you talk to folks who have been here a while, because it was so out of the realm of normalcy. But yet, it happened, and those things that are not supposed to happen here… seem to be happening here more and more often.

At his free time He enjoyed spending a lot of time as a member of Anniston Moose Lodge where he would boss a lot of people around. Bruce was wonderful and loving husband, father, son, grandfather, and friend. He was proceeded in death by his daddy, John White.

NBHS Honor Society lends a hand to Community Kitchen
On December 6, 2023 the National Honor Society from New Boston High School delivered cans from their can drive donated from the students to the New Boston Community Kitchen. They collected over 250 cans of food, and half of those were large #10 cans. They delivered and also stacked the shelves in the kitchen pantries. Sue Anderson, director of New Boston community kitchen, was there to meet the students and she explained to everyone how many residents in New Boston and surrounding areas utilize the kitchen everyday. About 106 people get daily meals from the Community Kitchen.

A&M-Texarkana forms new Academic Partnership with TexAmericas
Texas A&M University- Texarkana has announced a new partnership with TexAmericas Center (TAC) that will allow center employees as well as employees of tenant businesses to receive discounted tuition towards classes at the university. The partnership benefit includes a tuition discount for fulltime employees and is applicable to both degree and non-degree seeking programs. The partnership was finalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on December 8th on the A&M-Texarkana campus.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar Reminds Retailers of New E-Cigarette Law Designed to Protect Youth
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is reminding retailers that beginning Jan. 1, 2024, it will be a crime in Texas to market, advertise, sell or cause to be sold an e-cigarette product in certain containers that are designed to appeal to minors.

A&M-Texarkana Announces New Educational Partnership with Red River Credit Union
Texas A&M University- Texarkana and Red River Credit Union (RRCU) have announced a new academic partnership between the financial institution and the university designed to make it easier and more affordable for RRCU employees to attend the university. The partnership was formalized on December 6th by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties during a small ceremony at RRCU’s location at 2700 University Avenue.
