Local Bowie County Residents Recognized in Texas Conservation Awards Program
All winners are being recognized for their participation in the Texas Conservation Awards Program sponsored by Bowie County, Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Association of Texas Soil and Water Conservation Districts. The Texas Conservation Awards Program began in the late 1970’s to recognize conservationists and the vital role they play in managing Texas’ natural resources. The purpose of the program is to acknowledge, recognize, and honor individuals that dedicate their time and efforts to the conservation of natural resources.

Hip Hop down the Bunny Trail
The New Boston Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual Easter Egg Hunt this past Saturday at the T&P Trail Head Park Pavilion. Three age groups of children enjoyed a festive egg hunt and Farmers Bank provided a bicycle to the golden egg finder in each age division.

DeKalb Chamber hosts annual banquet
The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual banquet Saturday night at the DeKalb ISD main gym and handed out their annual awards. The event was catered by GameChangers BBQ and the live auction was directed by master auctioneer Lakin Oakley.

Redwater art program showcases their best colors
The Texas Elementary Art Meet (TEAM) event was held this week. Redwater had 26 entries. Of those, 25 received 3’s and one student received a gold medal.

The unpredictable Texas weather didn’t stop the New Boston Volunteer Fire Department from hosting a community block party last weekend. Those in attendance were treated to up close and personal fire truck tours, entertainment from Phillip Osburn & The Living Proof Band, raffle drawings and more.

Ranchers Table working to meet food challenges in area
The Ranchers’ Table, nonprofit organization focused on providing fresh meat to local communities through volunteered products, time and effort. In their latest outreach, the Ranchers’ Table donated over 287 pounds of beef to a varity of community outreach programs. Rita Vazquez told the Tribune, “We are always looking for volunteers.” Ways that people can join in include donating livestock, including cows, hogs and goats.
