Storms bring minor damage but thousands without power in Bowie County
Severe storms erupted across Texas and several other Plains states over the weekend causing widespread destruction, especially in Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma. While Texas was not totally spared from seeing destructive damage, Bowie County by and large escaped the wrath of Mother Friday and saw little damage. A tornado warning Friday night did send residents to local storm shelters, and there were trees down in places, the major issue in Bowie County was power outages. 05/01/2024 09:01 AM

Dr. Summer Gibson, current Special Education Coordinator & District Behavior Specialist for Pleasant Grove ISD, has been named Director of Special Education of Central Bowie County Special Education Shared Services for Redwater and Maud ISD. She will begin her new position on July 1. Gibson has served in the roles of Special Education Coordinator, District Behavior Specialist, Coordinator of Inclusion Services, Special Education Department Chair, Campus Scheduling Committee Representative, and Cam-pus Assistant Testing Coordinator for Pleasant Grove ISD since 2016. 05/01/2024 09:00 AM

Wright Family Establishes Endowed Scholarship Fund at TC
The Texarkana College Foundation received a $55,000 donation today from the family of Jerry and Juanita Wright to establish an endowed scholarship fund. Jerry and Juanita’s family established the fund in memory of their parents who began The Christian Charity Foundation in 1969 to primarily provide aid to students for the costs of college tuition, fees, and books. The Christian Charity Foundation funds were reallocated to the TC Foundation today for the purpose of continued support of students pursuing higher education credentials. 05/01/2024 09:00 AM

While millions of Texans commute to work on highways every week, they pass inches away from the worksites for thousands of law enforcement personnel, first responders and road maintenance crews.
