Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp Announces Plan to Retire Effective June 30, 2025
Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp announced on July 1, 2024, that he will be retiring from The Texas A&M University System on June 30, 2025. When his tenure is complete Chancellor Sharp will have served The A&M System for nearly 14 years. In an email to System employees Chancellor Sharp thanked The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents, elected officials, and the faculty, staff, and students across the Texas A&M University System for their unwavering support during his time as Chancellor. As Chancellor of The System Sharp oversaw 11 universities, eight state agencies, Texas A&M-Fort Worth and Texas A&M-RELLIS. The System has a budget of $7.3 billion and serves more than 157,000 students. System- wide research and development expenditures top $1 billion.

Bowie County Master Gardeners & Texas A&M – Texarkana Present: “Watering Your Lawn and Garden Wisely”
The Bowie County Master Gardeners and Texas A&M-Texarkana’s Extended Education and Community Development Department will host the program “Watering Your Lawn and Garden Wisely” on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public. The class will take place in the University Building, Room 326. No reservation is required to attend. The program will be presented by Dean Minchillo, Extension Program Specialist with the Texas Water Resources Institute in Dallas.

EnergyX Announces Major Lithium Development In Ark-La-Tex Region
As the Wild Wild West of Lithium exploration and extraction begins its impact on Northeast Texas, EnergyX has announced its intent to create a Lithium Plant in the Ark-La-Tex region. The Journal-Sun has reached out to EnergyX regarding a timeline, economic and ecological impact, and where they are looking to build the new project. As of Monday, we have not received any feedback, a follow-up article may be coming in the weeks to come with this information.
