A Snake That Wasn’t
Some memories don’t just visit you—they stay. Not because they were grand or planned, but because they came wrapped in everyday laughter and the presence of someone you miss dearly. A few years ago, I picked up my elderly mom to bring her to my house for Easter lunch. She had her usual batch of goodies— something she’d made for the meal, a plastic sack with odds and ends, and a little something extra for Kade, my grandson—her great-grandson.

In the Midst of the Storm
I’ve lived in Texas my entire life. One thing Texans can guarantee, if you wait a few minutes, the weather is sure to change, and change big. Every spring we experience spring storms, some pretty severe. A good part of every spring, Texans (in “tornado alley”) are guaranteed to be under a tornado watch or warning. This year is no exception … and this year has been a doozy!

Remembering our freedoms
It hit me as more than a little sad that we here in the United States seem to have developed a lack of remembrance and respect for all of the freedoms we enjoy here in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Ride with Me
My journey to the streets included a glimpse of a friendship I never want to take for granted—especially when that friend wrapped our brief moment in the wisdom I still carry with me today. When I pulled away from the curb, I’d just visited a few homeless friends, wondering if someone else needed Gatorade, a pair of socks, or a granola bar.

#Prayfor Kymber
One of the best things I have found about prayer is the facet of reciprocity. When someone we know needs prayer, we pray.

MODERN DAY SAINT
I’m fascinated with history, especially religious history. I’ve heard about Assisi, Italy for decades ever since I heard the story of St. Francis of Assisi. This week I discovered a story about a teenage boy who will be canonized as a saint on April 27 by the Catholic Church. The teenager is named Carlo Acutis. You may be asking why a teenager would be canonized. Let me explain.

Sticky Grace for Easter
April has rolled in with all the cheer of Easter promises, the heat of a Texas campfire, and some rainy days. I should’ve known better. It was sunny and warm, and I had a car full of marshmallow Peeps and chocolate eggs just waiting to become a science experiment. But I had a plan. I was headed out to see my homeless friends on the streets, to pass out some Easter joy wrapped in foil and dipped in sugar.
