Eggs, Pastries, and Providence
She had a dozen fresh eggs—straight from her chickens— ready to bless some of our homeless friends. She’d gone downtown with a heart full of love and a carton packed with breakfast, but the delivery didn’t quite go as planned. She didn’t see me. I wasn’t where I usually am—even though I’d been near her, something I’d learn later. So, no clear path presented itself for her to pass them along.

New Hope calls for workday to repair storm damage
The folks at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church have scheduled their annual workday for Saturday, May 3rd, and the make-up day in case of inclement weather for Saturday, May 31st. This year’s workday will be a busy one, as damage from recent storms will be the focus. An F-1 tornado struck the cemetery and the church on the morning of March 4th. There was considerable damage to both the church building and the cemetery, though most of the actual headstones survived without major damage. Members are still dealing with clean-up crews, construction crews, and insurance claims.

DeKalb, Redwater and Hooks each earn Bi-District titles
Three local teams from 10-3A softball have won Bi-District championships and advanced to the next round of the state playoffs. The DeKalb Lady Bears, the Hooks Lady Hornets and the Redwater Lady Dragons all won their first round matchups and are looking ahead this week to new foes.

Grand Opening scheduled for new Swanger Baseball Complex
The City of Texarkana, Texas, in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Department and the Texarkana, TX Dixie Youth Baseball league, will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting of the newly revitalized Swanger Baseball Complex on Friday, May 2nd at 6:00 pm at Spring Lake Park.
