Lady Lions chewing up opponents to lead district standings
With just two games left on the district schedule, the Lady Lions look to close out the regular season with a district championship. Going into last night’s game with the Lady Rabbs of Atlanta, the ladies from new Boston were perfect in district play and looking like they could make a deep run into the postseason playoff brackets.

West Fraser protecting environment, boosting economy with new solar farm
West Fraser New Boston celebrated the official ribbon cutting for the mill’s new state of the art solar farm last week. West Fraser officials, including New Boston Plant Manager Clay Garrett, were joined by members of the New Boston Chamber of Commerce, Bowie County Judge Bobby Howell, New Boston Mayor Ron Humphrey and Sharon Elkins from House District 1’s Representative Gary Van-Deaver’s office at the celebration.

A Song. A Trench Coat. And the Old Rugged Cross
The man stood near the street sign, wrapped in a trench coat, as I drove through the intersection, his eyes following me and mine gazing at him. I had plans to deliver some drinks to my homeless friends, who lingered in a group at the next corner, so I kept going. After much laughter and chatting, the group dispersed, and I drove back up the same street. That’s when I noticed a guitar case resting upright by the stop sign, waiting for someone to come back and claim it.

Bowie’s Best softball recieve top awards at competition
Athletes from Bowie’s Best softball teams took gold and bronze at the state Special Olympics softball tournament in Odessa, Texas. Team 1 finished with the first place finish while Team 2 fought hard in the second day of competition after a first day loss to clinch the third place spot. The wins finishes the fall softball season for the athletes. Their next competitive season will be the 2025 spring track and field events.
