Santa knows and Jesus does too
Santa knows and Jesus does too
that the famous Front Street Junction has opened its doors again and is back to filling the hungry belly of folks around Northeast Texas again. I for one am sure glad they did. My friends over there, Ted, Suzanne, Ashley and Tommy, and all of their crew, sure know how to cook up a juicy ribeye and I have been missing mine. The new place looks amazing, better than ever, and it is just really nice to have a mainstay of our area back open. Okay, now here’s the rub. 11/15/2023 10:00 AM

As you go through life, you’ll have various financial goals — and to achieve them, you’ll need to invest. But just recognizing the need to invest is not as useful as matching specific types of accounts or investments with specific goals. How can you make these connections? 11/15/2023 10:00 AM

USDA-NRCS Texas Accepting Applications for Agricultural Conservation Easement Program
USDA-NRCS Texas Accepting Applications for Agricultural Conservation Easement Program
While the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) accepts easement applications on a continuous basis, applications for the 2024 fiscal year Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) funding consideration must be submitted to NRCS by December 8, 2023. Any applications that are received after December 8, 2023, will be considered in future funding opportunities. Application package information may be found on the Texas NRCS Easement Program webpage. “NRCS has worked with landowners in Texas for many years to protect their agricultural lands and wetlands,” said NRCS Texas State Conservationist Kristy Oates. “Easements are sometimes a perfect fit for a landowner who is looking to protect land from future development or to protect and improve wetlands or provide critical habitat for wildlife.” ACEP Agricultural Land Easements provide financial assistance to eligible partners for purchasing easements that protect the agricultural use and conservation values of eligible land. In the case of working farms, the program helps farmers and ranchers keep their land in agriculture. The program also protects grazing uses and related conservation values by conserving valuable grasslands in Texas. 11/15/2023 10:00 AM

Looking for a shepherd
About eight years ago, a man asked the pastor if he could read a passage from the Psalms to the group under the bridge. He also asked the pastor to help him since his reading skills were poor. This pastor had counseled this man numerous times regarding his addiction and other sins. And the man appeared mentally challenged and had admitted to using meth. 11/08/2023 10:00 AM

American Legion Post to Host Veteran’s Day Celebration
American Legion Post to Host Veteran’s Day Celebration
To honor all veterans, the American Legion Post 488 family will host a “giving thanks to Veterans” dinner on Sunday, November 12, 2023. The time has been set for 1:30pm until 4:00pm with NO cost to veterans and a guest. Following a brief ceremony and reveille, the posting of the Colors, and a short program provided by a guest speaker, a full thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings and desserts will be served. Recognition of honors will be presented to the oldest veteran of each branch of the Armed Forces, with drawings for prizes and presentation of gifts afterwards. It is with great honor we take this opportunity to show our respect and appreciation for the sacrifices made and the oaths upheld by you, the Veteran, for our freedom in the greatest country in the world…the United States of America. Please come join us November 12, 2023 and feel free to invite other veterans.
